This Privacy Policy explains how Greg Sargent ("I", "me", or "this site") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit gregsargent.com or interact with any tool or service offered through it. It also explains the choices you have about your information.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to gregsargent.com and to any connected tools I operate, including a personal cataloging and listing tool that integrates with the eBay Developers Program. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that are linked from this site but operated by others.

Information I collect

I try to collect only what I need. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

Information you provide directly. When you fill out the contact form, request work, or otherwise reach out, I collect the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

Account and authentication data. Some private sections of this site require sign-in through Google. When you sign in, I receive basic profile information from Google, such as your name and email address, used only to confirm you are authorized to view that content.

Usage and device data. Like most websites, this site may automatically record technical details such as your browser type, device, general location inferred from your IP address, pages visited, and the dates and times of those visits. This helps me understand how the site is used and keep it working correctly.

Information stored in your browser. This site uses cookies and local browser storage to remember preferences and keep you signed in. You can clear or block these through your browser settings, though some features may stop working if you do.

eBay account data. If you use a feature that connects to eBay, I may receive data from the eBay APIs related to listings, items, and the connected eBay account. This data is used only to operate the feature you requested. See the section on eBay data below.

How I use your information

I use the information described above to:

• Respond to your messages and inquiries
• Provide and maintain the features you use, including authenticated areas and any eBay-connected tools
• Operate, secure, and improve the site
• Detect, prevent, and address technical problems, fraud, or abuse

I do not sell your personal information. I do not use your information for advertising profiles, and I do not share it with third parties except as described in this policy.

eBay data and marketplace account deletion

Features on this site that connect to eBay use the eBay APIs in accordance with the eBay Developers Program agreements and policies.

When the site stores data associated with an eBay user, I honor the eBay Marketplace Account Deletion and Closure Notification process. If eBay notifies the application that an eBay user has requested deletion of their personal data and closure of their account, I will delete all personal data associated with that user from the application's records, except where retention is required by law. Where the application does not store eBay user data, it relies on eBay's exemption process instead.

How information is shared

I share information only in these limited situations:

Service providers. I rely on trusted third parties to run this site, and they may process data on my behalf. These include hosting and deployment through Vercel, authentication and backend services through Google Firebase, and the eBay Developers Program for eBay-connected features. These providers may only use the information to perform services for this site.

Legal reasons. I may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if I believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect my rights or safety, or respond to a lawful request from public authorities.

With your direction. I may share information when you ask me to, such as posting a listing you create to a connected account.

Data retention

I keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Contact messages are kept so I can follow up and maintain a record of our conversation. Data tied to an eBay user is deleted on receipt of a valid account deletion notification, as described above. You can ask me to delete information about you at any time.

Data security

I take reasonable measures to protect your information, including using reputable providers, encrypted connections, and access controls on authenticated areas. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security, but I work to keep your information safe.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information I hold about you, or to object to or limit certain uses. To make any of these requests, contact me using the details below and I will respond within a reasonable time.

You can also control cookies and local storage through your browser, and you can stop providing information at any time by not using the relevant feature.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact me and I will delete it.

International visitors

This site is operated from the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
